Android Introduces New Features: Earthquake Alerts, Voice Control, and More

Google decided to add a number of updates to the Android operating system to make it even more accessible and user-friendly in a number of ways. The company has recently made an announcement regarding the updates in a blog post and said that the changes will take place over the course of several weeks.

Thanks to the update, it will now be easier to find specific messages in messaging apps created by Google. If you have an important message and you don’t want to lose it among all others, you can click on a star right next to it and you will be able to find it next time without problems.

Next, if you use the Gboard to type on your device, you will now be able to see different Emoji Kitchen stickers suggested when you use Messages. You can pick and choose the right one for your chat.

Another useful function is that you will now be able to access certain apps with the help of voice commands. Moreover, Google focused on enhancing its Voice Access feature, which will be extremely helpful to people with disabilities. You can now enable a setting so that the Voice Access is active only when you look at the screen. It means that you can talk on your phone while also browsing through the phone. Also, the company mentioned that they are working on making it easier for Voice Access to recognize when you enter capital letters and any special characters. This is especially relevant when you need to enter your password.

The updates don’t end there and this one concerns the safety of people. Google is now making the earthquake alert system available on the phone in more countries than previously. They now include the Philippines and Turkey. The system works by alerting people several seconds before an earthquake. While it may not seem like a lot, these seconds are vital in those moments and you have higher chances of finding a safer spot.

Last, but not least, there is an update coming up that concerns Android Auto customization. If you haven’t used it, it is an operating system for vehicles. With the improvement, you will be able to access more apps from the launcher screen, including WhatsApp, enable a dark mode, and also find specific content a lot quicker.

What do you think about these updates? Are there other improvements that you are waiting for? Please, tell us in the comments below and share the news with other Android users you know.
