MultiVersus is to Be Taken Offline and Relaunched in Early 2024

Warner Bros.’ free-to-play Super Smash Bros. style fighting game, MultiVersus, is being taken offline next month and will relaunch early next year with improved features based on fan feedback. Developer Player First Games has decided that the only way to properly implement these changes is by temporarily shutting down the game until a full relaunch can be achieved.

In a developer blog post, Player First Games CEO Tony Huynh explains that since the open beta launch of MultiVersus last July, players have offered plentiful feedback, which needs to be implemented for an optimal user experience. The studio plans on introducing new characters, maps, and modes; updating net code; reworking the progression system; as well as exploring ways for users to connect with their friends within the game.
