New Verification Method Upcoming for Android Users of WhatsApp

Right now, there are two ways you can switch from using your WhatsApp on one device to another – you can get a voice call or receive a one-time password in SMS. According to reports, there will soon be a new verification method available, which is faster and smoother.

The developers are currently testing the so-called flash call technique for the purpose of verification. The way it works is simple – the app will call your phone number but the authentication will be automatic. If you already have an existing account, WhatsApp will approve it based on the number stored in the database. It is also possible to set a new account with the flash call method. At the moment, only beta testers can use this feature.

When it comes to safety, the method is not much different from receiving a one-time password. If you are concerned about your privacy, you should remember that the app will be able to access your call logs. This is also the reason why this feature won’t be available on iPhones, as the company doesn’t allow apps to read call logs on their devices.

What do you think about this new verification method? Do you think it is necessary? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
