The real-life and online event industry grow closer. Snapchat, a giant of AR-assisted online messaging, and Ticketmaster, one of the major online ticket operators, join forces to offer its users a new sort of event-finding experience. The result is the built-in Snapchat app Ticketmaster Mini that helps users discover the most interesting events.
The mini-app is quite simple to use. You need to run it within Snapchat and go through a little survey. Then, the app will offer you a list of events that may interest you. To navigate through events, you just swipe left or right. If you are interested, you can purchase tickets right there. Obviously, the selection of events depends on your replies as much as on your location, the filters you have used, and maybe even your conversations (though if it is, it’s highly depersonalized to protect your user data).
Snapchat is also about communication, not only about messaging online but in real life as well. So if you and some of your friends match with the same event, you both will be notified about this. If you don’t trust automatic matches, you can directly invite any of your contact to a certain event, and they can get to know about it right in the app.
Aside from its significance for Snapchat users who can now access the most visual information about events, this collaboration is significant for another reason. It’s the first time Snapchat allowed a third-party service to access its location-based SnapMap (which is completely logical with that). Maybe soon we’ll see other collaborations that make use of your location.
Where do you prefer to learn about events you’d like to attend? Is it easy to purchase tickets right there? And what about finding a company for these events? If you have already tried Ticketmaster mini-app, share your impressions with us in the comments!
