What YouTube once had Red, Twitter has Blue. The most popular microblogging service launches its premium subscription that provides some extra functionality to Twitter users. The iOS app is already confirmed, as well as subscription as a part of paid content available within the app. As for the price, it’s rather moderate – $2.29/month, at least, for users in the USA.
The first thing that becomes available to subscribers is interface changing. In spite of the name, Twitter Blue users don’t have to stick to the blue color scheme but can choose among various color options. An icon set also adds some diversity into the too-familiar interface. Third-party Twitter clients have been offering this for a long, though.
What makes more sense as a paid feature is a chance to untweet what’s been tweeted. Blue subscribers will be able to delete tweets they posted within a certain time frame. That’s what could have prevented a covfefe incident and its likes.
Other productive features include Reader Mode (which unfurls threads) and better bookmark management. As for exclusive content, there will probably be none. All the tweets, media, and links will be available to free accounts as well as to Blue.
