WhatsApp Explains How to Protect Your Privacy Amid the Ukrainian War

On February 28th, WhatsApp has made an official announcement on Twitter about the things that could be done by people in Ukraine and across the world to protect their privacy. In their Twitter message, WhatsApp representatives have listed a number of methods of securing your most important information, saying that they deeply care about the citizens of Ukraine and hope that they are safe and secure.

Aside from that, Meta has stated that they have created a special operations center that will be used for monitoring the platform 24/7. Ukrainian citizens will also enjoy the new security features, that allow users to lock their Facebook account, preventing people from being able to view and search through other people’s friend lists.

Meta has stated that its first priority is to stop the spread of disinformation that is spreading at an incredible rate. Aside from that, Russian state media will not be able to post their ads on Facebook and their accounts will be demonetized.

WhatsApp has also reminded its users, that anyone who uses WhatsApp can enable the two-step verification to better protect their privacy. All of these security measures can really affect the performance of your device, which is why you should always turn on the Fingerprint lock. All of these measures make it very hard for anyone to use your device and Meta’s apps without your consent.

The quick increase in false information has become a major problem, which is why Meta has limited the number of messages that can be forwarded. This way, you can only forward interesting stuff to your close friends, instead of sharing it with a whole host of people that you keep on your friend’s list.

Also, all messages that were forwarded will be labeled as such, so that people will know whether the sender wrote that message themselves or simply copied and forwarded it with the help of another person.

What do you think about the new changes? Are those changes going to be game-breaking or not? Tell us what you think in the comment section!
