Genshin Impact is still one of the biggest games of the 2020s and will probably hold its place for long. This adventure in the world inspired by both real history and culture and fairytales and fantasy has attracted many players, but while many of them prefer to immerse in the game by playing it, others would certainly enjoy an anime series based on Genshin Impact.
Well, the first reason is fans are waiting for it. Waiting so impatiently that they start making their own fan anime videos featuring characters and locations from the game. It’s far from fully-fledged machinima projects they could have made with full access to the engine and the contents, but still impressive.
The second reason is that everybody else is doing it already. It’s not always anime. Like Dragon Quest or Pokemon: look at DotA: Dragon’s Blood series, Arcane (based on League of Legends), and even The Cuphead Show! that went back to the game’s roots in cartoons of the 1930s. But as it comes to Genshin Impact, it’s so blatantly anime-inspired that any other style would be unfitting.
The third reason is, strangely, the backstory the characters have been given in the game itself. It’s so taunting and teasing that really investing fans are already wanting more. And don’t they deserve it, giving their time and unnecessary payments to Hoyoverse? This would be a welcome addition to the lore of the game.
But can the publisher take its time? Of course, it can. But while the game unfolds, it adds more characters that would also need explanations. There will be more events, more locations, and the narrative will get more sophisticated, so something may have to be retconned for the anime series to work as a standalone piece. So, the time is now.
Would you watch an anime series based on Genshin Impact? Do you think it should unfold along with the game or take its own pace? We’d like to read your reaction in the comments!
