The Best RPG for Android List (2021)

RPG has always been the closest genre to movies and TV series, with your character living in a rich well-modeled world, among other characters, playable or not, various landscapes and biomes, and settings. A good RPG takes a lot of resources, but smartphones and tablets caught up with these requirements. So now you can enjoy full-fledged RPGs on Android devices. Here is the list of the most relevant mobile role-playing games in 2021.

Fire Emblem Heroes

Fire Emblem Heroes

It’s been one of the best RPGs for decades, and one of the original Nintendo titles available for mobiles. In its fantasy setting typical for Japanese RPGs, it also incorporates elements of tactical combat and even auto-combat for beginners.

Monster Hunter Stories

Monster Hunter Stories

While the Monster Hunter series is rather mechanical, this game features more role-playing. It has a story of many episodes, where you can fight monsters as well as tame them and make friends. It’s rather pricey (like most top RPGs, games that always cost money), but has no in-game purchases, ads, or locked content.

Banner Saga

Banner Saga

This Viking-inspired RPG is quite authentic though less brutal than one might expect. In this game, the alliance of the human race and giant folk fights against a hostile Dredge nation. Not only does it feature great visuals and a combat system, but also a story where your decisions matter.

Star Wars: KOTOR

Star Wars- KOTOR

We couldn’t skip this one of the best games the RPG genre has. It was released in 2003. But, as said in Star Wars, judge it by its age do you? Hmm. And well you should not. For its ally... If you already finished the sentence in your mind, Star Wars: KOTOR is among the best Android RPGs. Even if you have played it inside out.

Eternium

Eternium

If you want an example of what are some good free RPG games for Android, here is one. Its fantasy setting is typical for RPGs, with mages and warriors, swords and spells, but innovative controls make it easier to master moves, spells, and the rules of the world.

Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact

Though this Chinese take on the Japanese RPG tradition is the highest grossing game of 2020, it’s not the first to recommend. The world is cool, the characters are customizable, and the team control is great. However, the story of a character searching for their twin in a fairyland is rather generic, and “free-to-play” means microtransactions rule everything around you.

FINAL FANTASY Record Keeper

FINAL FANTASY Record Keeper

Though this is a new standalone story from the famous series, it retains the spirit of the classical installments and its pixel designs. More than that: it features characters and music from the entire long saga, so it’s the best RPG for Android and iOS for Final Fantasy fans. Alas, it’s no longer an MRPG game, as multiplayer was closed last year. It’s still great, nevertheless.

Anima

Anima

Inspired by the famous Diablo series, this RPG features similar mechanics and even similar visuals. Its world is typically medieval-fantasy set, with more mystic and demonic creatures you have to fight with sword or spell. It’s story-based, but quite replayable due to the New Game+ mode available after the finish.

Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley

Among the best RPG games for Android, this one might feel strange, as many perceive it as a farming simulator. But it has a role-playing side, so the process of upgrading your farm becomes a real challenging adventure.

Arcane Quest

Arcane Quest

While this RPG is set in a typical fantasy world, it has something distinct about it. It’s rather story-based than grind-based, so it doesn’t need the Internet, being arguably the best offline RPG for Android. In it, you can select a character and develop them to the highest tier with various skill sets. The first episode of the game is available for free.

The List Is Not Exhaustive

Of course, there are other great role-playing games on Android. But if you are new to the genre (or its mobile version) and want to get familiar with it, these titles will do the work best. Hope you will have a good time you call spent, not wasted.
